🐭 emotions come off more as auras to mouse, unless it's a stronger feeling in which mouse is capable of a more thorough understanding of said emotion. emotions of those further away are almost like a hum in varying tones that only mouse can hear.

HISTORY
childhood:🐭 mouse grew up in la jolla, ca in a household containg three generations of family. his paternal grandparents and father are all realtors while his mother is a corporate tax analyst.
🐭 mouse's grandmother was the one who did most of the childcare for mouse and his sisters, until they were old enough to take care of themselves.
liminal discovery:
🐭 the summer before mouse started his last year of middle school, he discovered that he was a liminal when he turned into a worm in the middle of a beach birthday party for one of his classmates. he was reported to iris before he even got to inform his parents, as it happened so publically.
boarding schools:
🐭 his parents arranged for him to go to a liminal school in yuma, az. the school itself was fine, but mouse struggled with his lack of control regarding powers and being around a bunch of kids with really loud emotions. he asked his parents if they'd let him transfer to a different facility after his first and only year of school there and they obliged.
🐭 mouse ended up at lyndon b. johnson educational facility in abilene, tx. he tried to avoid people as much as possible, but did end up with a small group of friends there, including maddox savage and jack jung. it was easier going powers-wise, since he'd learned some tricks by then and he managed to go nearly two years without major incident.
🐭 over spring break in his second year at lbjef, his family had an altercation and mouse tried to mediate it and calm everyone down, but he somehow managed to remove his father's anger*. by the end of that spring break, his father's anger still hadn't returned and there was another transfer in order at the end of the school year to a different liminal school in new hampshire. along with that, his parents arranged for mouse to live with his aunt during school breaks, with the unspoken implication that he would no longer be welcomed in the home he'd always lived in.
after lyndon b. johnson educational facility:
🐭 mouse transfered to his third and final liminal school, in manchester, nh. the only family members he still spoke to were his younger sister and the aunt he lived with. he was much more successful at avoiding people this time around in school.
🐭 after graduating from high school, mouse moved to burlington, vt and worked as a janitor in an office while he got himself through an emt course. it was bad, because superpower empathy is bad in emergency situations. no one wants to have one of the people responsible for saving lives also be hit with a wave of the same emotions as the person in the emergency so he moved to midlothian, va and enrolled in a nursing program.
🐭 he ended up a pediatric nurse. it felt less fulfilling than being an emt, even though he spent considerably less time as a mouse or worm. he ended up applying to work at the enodia station in hopes that he could do more working there than in a pediatric clinic after only a few years of working. if nothing else, he had people there who he'd considered the closest thing to family he had outside of his younger sister, who was the only one of non-chosen family he managed to keep contact with ultimately.

SENSITIVE TOPICS: outside of the basics of not wanting to interact with bigotry and standard things that come with trigger warnings, generally i don't want to interact with pregnancy, police/military or addiction storylines at all. traumatic things in backstory are generally okay along with discussing them ic but i'd appreciate a heads up if something is going to go into specifics so i can decide if i'm able to engage with it or not!
SMUT: hard no.
CONFLICT: he hates big emotions, so he's more inclined to bounce than stay and fight once things reach a certain point but he's also a brat and instigates shit so his mouth gets him in trouble anyway at times. also less inclined to flee if there are people he cares about involved.
VIOLENCE: not gonna say never, but he's not a physical fighter! talk to me ooc if you want your character to inflict violence on him, it's probably fine.
